Hermès Launches First 100% Biodegradable Perfume Bottle Made from Mushroom Mycelium

Paris, France – Luxury maison Hermès has unveiled Éclat du Jardin, a limited-edition eau de toilette housed in a revolutionary bottle crafted from mushroom mycelium and recycled plant fibers. The eco-friendly design, developed in collaboration with biotech startup MycoWorks, marks a milestone in sustainable packaging for the $50 billion fragrance industry. "Consumers no longer separate luxury from responsibility," said Hermès Perfume Creative Director Christine Nagel. The bottle decomposes in 120 days, while the scent—a blend of green mandarin and bamboo—champions locally sourced, carbon-neutral ingredients. Sales launch globally in April, with 10% of proceeds funding reforestation in Madagascar. (Source: Grand View Research, 2025 Sustainability Report)
